Errors That Shorten Engine Life

The part that affects the performance of the car the most and needs to be protected 100 percent is undoubtedly the engine. The source of disruptions in the vehicle, poor performance and many similar malfunctions may be due to the engine. If maintenance that extends the life of the engine is not carried out, the sources of failure will become apparent over time, starting from the engine and spreading to other parts. There are common mistakes that shorten engine life. While sometimes drivers have to make mistakes consciously, most of the time mistakes are made unnoticed. There are many maintenance and repair works that need to be done to increase engine volume and make it healthier. There will be techniques that the driver himself must pay close attention to.

                                             Behaviors Affecting Engine Life

               1. Use in Cold Weather

Act immediately by starting the vehicle in very cold temperatures, that is, at minus degrees. Since the engine does not warm up, if it is done like this every day, the life of the engine will decrease incredibly. In cold weather, first start the vehicle normally and wait for a maximum of 15 minutes for the engine to recover a little. Starting the engine and pressing the gas in minus degree weather is risky for engine health. You need to wait and then move the vehicle with a light load on the gas.

            2. Using at High RPM

If you constantly operate your vehicle at high speed, the engine will reduce its capacity for a certain period of time. It consumes all its power in high speed driving and there is an incredible loss of idle speed when operating normally. This will cause engine power to decrease and acceleration problems even when driving on a flat road. It is beneficial to use the engine power at its capacity instead of high speed.

            3. Movement Problems and Not Paying Attention

If the vehicle becomes hot and continues to be used without paying attention, the engine will lose power due to overheating. Overheating problems should be eliminated by changing the coolant at least once a year. Increasing the temperature in the vehicle will reduce the performance of the engine and other parts.

            4. Gear Shift Problems

This is an issue that needs to be taken into consideration in geared vehicles. When the vehicle reaches a certain speed, it is necessary to change gear. A late gear change automatically affects the vehicle. It weakens the engine and if gear shifting is done late in short distances, overheating causes engine function to decrease. In manual vehicles, shifting gears in a timely manner will extend engine life.

         5. Routine Checks Not Performed on Time

The vehicle has routine check maintenance. It should be done regularly every year. Take stock of yourself. You feel uncomfortable when your hair grows. Since there are distortions in its shape, you struggle to fix it. Your car will come to its senses with many maintenance tasks, from changing the oil to adding new oil, maintaining and cleaning the engine, cleaning any clogged parts and allowing it to breathe easier. If annual checks are not carried out and time extends, losses in engine power will become evident and its life will be shortened.
